Nutritional Therapy – Discover which foods are best for your body

Guest post by Sandrine Olmi for West Wimbledon Physiotherapy Clinic

When you eat specific foods, you may have noticed that your body can react in different ways. When it all goes well, food gets digested easily, nutrients are absorbed to support the various body systems and maintain good health. If you eat foods that do not agree with you, you may experience a variety of signs such as bloating, cramps, constipation, diarrhoea, lethargy, reflux, headaches and even allergic reactions in some instances. Your body is telling you that something is not quite right.

What do you get from attending a Nutritional Therapy session?

As a Nutritional Therapist, I help people feel better by assessing the impact food has on their body and by providing them with a personalised diet and lifestyle plan to address any issues. I ask patients to fill in a food diary to give me an idea of eating habits and preferences. During the consultation, I ask various questions to understand the health history of the patient, to assess each of the body systems and their lifestyle habits.

Consultations are an opportunity for me to understand what affects your body and for you to find out what food would help you feel at your best. Health issues I specialise in include women’s health (hormone balancing, blood sugar balance and fertility), stress management, weight management, digestive issues, food intolerances and allergies.

Family Nutrition Coaching

Cooking nutritious meals is essential to achieve optimal health. I offer healthy cooking workshops which are delivered in the comfort of your own home. Once we have established your health goals which could be “introducing more vegetables in the diet”, “starting a gluten free or dairy free diet” or “reducing sugar consumption”, we can plan cooking sessions. I highly recommend for the whole family to get involved. It is a great bonding activity, it encourages children to try new food and it is a lot of fun.
