Pilates aims to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. Pilates was developed by German-born Joseph Pilates, who believed mental and physical health were closely connected.
Pilates has something to offer people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes.
Regular Pilates practice can help improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension. For elite athletes, including dancers, Pilates can complement their training by developing whole body strength and flexibility, and help reduce the risk of injury.
There’s some evidence that Pilates can provide pain relief to people with non-specific lower back pain
Pilates can be taught on a one-to-one or group basis. Our classes have a maximum of 6 people per class, so you are assured of individual attention
Exercise for the over 60’s
In addition to Pilates, we have a general class for the over 60’s, aimed at maintaining health and fitness. Again this has a maximum of 6 attendees, and is followed by refreshments.

Classes are £14 per person or receive a 10% discount when you book a block of 10.
