MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage has been used for over 4.000 years. Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, was a fan and Julius Caesar was massaged daily, although today we use “Swedish” massage to treat clients.

Massage is the systematised manipulation of soft tissue of various parts of the body, which helps the body to heal itself and to increase health and well-being. Most recipients of a course of massage therapy feel more relaxed in their every day life.

When muscles are overworked, waste products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle causing soreness, stiffness and even muscle spasm.

Massage improves circulation, which increases blood flow, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues. This can assist the elimination of waste products, speed healing after injury and enhance recovery from disease.

Therapeutic massage promotes general well-being, which enhances self-esteem, boosts the metabolism and, with regular treatments, maintains a healthy posture. Massage also improves the circulatory and immune systems to benefit blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion and skin tone.

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian Head Massage is an ancient treatment involving work on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. It can provide relief from aches and pains, stress symptoms, insomnia, promote hair growth, soothe, comfort and rebalance your energy flow which gives you a deep sense of peace, calm and tranquillity. Indian Head Massage can be performed without the need to undress and with or without oils. A treatment will last between thirty minutes and one hour.

HOPI EAR CANDLING

Hopi Ear Candling Therapy is a natural therapy, which originated in Ancient Greece. The practice reached the modern world via the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona. The candles are still made today on the basis of their old traditional formula.

The candles are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities from the ears to the surface where they can be gently removed. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities from the ear.

Hopi Ear Candles will help remove excessive or compacted wax in the ears, remove irritation in the ears and sinuses, and regulate pressure in cases of such ailments as sinusitis, glue ear, colds and flu, and headaches and migraine. Hopi Ear Candles also may improve hearing, remove noises in the ears such as ringing and tinnitus, and relieve stress.

THAI YOGA MASSAGE

Traditional Thai Massage is a blend of Yoga, Accupressure and Relflexology. It is a 2500-year-old technique to relax the body and mind. It can help to relieve many physical problems such as back pain, tense shoulders and neck, stiffness, poor posture, indigestion and sciatica as well as mental problems like stress and lethargy.

The basic form of the massage is performed fully clothed (no oils are used) on a mat on the floor and is suitable for all ages. The technique involves putting gentle but firm pressure on the body with the palms and thumbs, as well as relaxing stretching of the limbs and back. In this way it works effectively on skin, muscle, the organs and the skeletal structure. Blood and lymph circulation are increased and toxins are removed from tissues.

Clinic

The clinic aims to provide a selection of services to maintain and enhance health and wellbeing. Although primarily a physiotherapy clinic, a range of other treatments are available . The clinic has 3 private consultation rooms that contain modern physiotherapy equipment. The complementary therapy room is designed to promote relaxation whilst experiencing aromatherapy and reflexology. The spacious gymnasium is used for individual rehabilitation programmes, as well as a wide range of classes including pilates, baby massage and antenatal classes. The reception area contains a wide range of information leaflets, plus goods for sale eg pillows, back supports, tape and icepacks.
